About

We are an independent group of condominium unit owners within the Grande Bay Resort in Cruz Bay, St. John, USVI. Most of us have been going to St. John for 20-years or more, and our knowledge of the island is nearly as good as a St. Johnian! The owner of this site has traveled extensively throughout the Caribbean from Turks & Caicos to the ABC’s, (Aruba, Bonaire, and Curacao). The fact that St. John, and the location of Grande Bay, was chosen by all of us as our home away from home in the Caribbean — says a lot about the island, our location on the island, and the resort itself!

There are many things that make St. John unique. Thanks to Laurance S. Rockefeller “discovering” Caneel Bay in 1952 while sailing in the Caribbean, and due to his efforts and others, 2/3 of the whole island of St. John will be preserved forever as National Park Land. This alone makes St. John unique not only in the USVI but in all of the Caribbean! Another relatively unique attribute for St. John is we don’t have an airport.

Your most direct access point to St. John is via St. Thomas (STT) by ferry. Grande Bay is a short walk from the public ferry dock, either on the beach, or through Wharfside Village, a collection of restaurants and shops at your front door. (You can also get to St. John by ferry from the British Virgin Islands, BVI, but that is more complicated.)
